Classical Ballet of Fredericksburg, LLC

Creative Movement:  The perfect class for children ages 3-5 to explore movement while having fun.  Children stretch, play song games, learn movement patterns and are introduced to dance positions all while having fun with their friends!  Children should be toilet trained before joining this class.

Girls should wear a pink leotard, pink tights and pink ballet slippers.

Boys should wear a white t-shirt, tights or shorts and black or white ballet slippers.

Pre-Ballet:  Designed to introduce children ages 5 and 6 who are not quite ready for the rigors and discipline of a Level IA class to the world of ballet.  Children will learn positions of the arms and legs, rhythmic steps and directional movements.  At the completion of Pre-Ballet, students should be well prepared for Level IA Ballet technique.

Yoga Stretch:  This class uses yoga to enhance stretch particularly in the hips, legs and back all of which are crucial to the development of "extension", port de bras, and turnout.  Proper breathing techniques are practiced which help a dancer develope endurance needed in difficult variations and performance.  This class is highly recommended for serious ballet students in Levels II* and up. 

Wear comfortable and form fitting clothes.  Please provide your own yoga mat.

Ballet Classes are divided into 5 levels.  Class placement is evaluated and assigned by Ms. Bogomolova and Mr. Bogomolov ONLY.

Level I:  Foundational Ballet.  For students who are beginning ballet training, or who have previous training but are new to Vaganova method.  Emphasis in this class will be placed on learning basic positions of the feet, head and arms (port de bras).  Students will spend a majority of the class learning at the barre.  In the center, students will learn the concepts of body position, croise and efface.  Level I is for students who are true beginners or who are very young.  Attention is placed on learning the fundamentals of ballet training.

Level II.  This level is designed for students who successfully demonstrate a mastery of concepts taught in Level I.  Students in Level II are invited to continue strengthening basics by attending Level I classes in addition to Level II classes.  Instruction in this level will build upon basics of position and will emphasis poses of the body, work in center and in releve, as well as simple adage, jumps and turns.  Students in Level II should attend a minimum of 2 ballet technique classes per week.  For females, introduction of pointe work is appropriate at this level.  Students invited to join Level II* have demonstrated aptitude for ballet in the general Level II class.  These students will work towards transitioning into Level III and are invited to audition for the Pre-Competitive Category Team representing CBF at Youth America Grand Prix.

Level III:  Upon successful mastery of Level II principles, students will expand upon their repertoire of movements.  Increased work in the center and mastery of balance will be stressed.   Level I and Level II classes are open to Level III students.   Girls aged 10 or older who have been placed in Level III will begin pointe training.

 Level IV: Students will work towards a mastery of more complicated jumps and turns.  Artistry of movement will be emphasized.  Introduction to the Classical Repertoire will begin at this level during Variations class.  Interested Level III, IV and V students may audition to compete in international ballet competitions, such as Youth America Grand Prix (www.yagp.org), in which execution of specific variations from the Classical Repertoire are required.

Level V (Pre-Professional):  For students with a solid knowledge of Vaganova technique, level V classes will challenge the dancer to perfect the classicism of their movements.  Emphasis will be placed on presentation and clean technique.  Level V students are expected to attend as many classes as possible per week.  Knowledge and execution of the Classical Repertoire will be an essential part of Level V instruction.  Level V students are required to attend Variations class and are encouraged to learn partnering skills in Pas de Deux class.

Uniforms for Classical Ballet of Fredericksburg are available at local dance retailers including The Dancer's Wardrobe in downtown Fredericksburg and Heather's Dancewear located in Stafford.

Girls should come to class with their hair pulled neatly away from their face and neck.  If hair is long enough, it should be secured with pins into a bun.
